Economy and environment
Choosing the right material from the beginning is always right in a long-term way of thinking. Regardless of whether it is the economy, the environment or other factors that come into play. The fewer times a job has to be redone, the lower the operating cost of the entire system.
The total environmental impact is also directly proportional to the life of the coating. Longevity is a function of product choice, so it is important to choose the right one.
If a floor is considered, it is one of the most important parts of the building. However, not enough power may be devoted to finding the best and right coating. This is often due to ignorance and too much faith in the seller’s happy advertising brochures. You can never replace quality with long warranty periods.
Floor and wall
It can be difficult to choose what to lay on a surface. Today, there are many different alternatives to surface treatment and therefore it is important that you do a requirements analysis and insert the surface on a time axis that goes beyond the guarantee.
But regardless, the starting point is often an untreated concrete floor. These are characterized by the fact that they:
- Spreading dust
- Absorbs oils and other contaminants
- Poor chemical resistance
- Hard to keep clean
- Poor durability, etc.
Therefore, in order to find the right product, we must both be aware of the requirements placed on the floor and know the functions and properties of different products.
It is easy to understand that it is not possible to satisfy varying requirements with any universal product. The strength of the epoxy plasters lies precisely in the modifiability, which guarantees that you can get the right product for your requirements. Whether it is for a floor or wall surface.
Moisture in the building structure can be a major problem for the indoor environment. Moisture and alkali easily break down carpet glue and cause an unhealthy environment. We can offer complete systems for efficient moisture, alkali and emission barrier. These systems have been tested at testing institutes, and many years in the field have confirmed their function.
Adhesives and crack injection
Repairing by joining broken parts has been a well-known approach for a long time. Then whether it’s Aunt’s old vase or the concrete in Ölandsbron, it does not matter much. Everything can be repaired with an adhesive that has adhesive properties. There are a large number of products that are filling, i.e. you just put something in the crack. What is on each side of the filling is still loose. If there is a movement in these, they will slowly but surely grind down the filling and the problem will return. Therefore, it is important that we use an adhesive and that the adhesive has a good adhesion to the substrate, regardless of whether it is wet or dry, so that we can join the parts to basically original strength. The adhesive must also have a strength that exceeds that of the concrete. If there is more tension in the construction, it will crack again, but not where you glued.
Protection against chemicals
In general, an epoxy coating provides good protection against everyday chemicals, but there are of course exceptions. Epoxy usually manages those that have a pH above 7 gallantly. When it comes to acids, the results are a bit more scattered. Acids such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid cope with epoxy better than e.g. formic acid and acetic acid. Petrol and diesel are normally not problems in their pure state, the problems come when other things are mixed in. Ethanol is e.g. something that epoxy does not like in the long run. Therefore, it is important to have the entire range of aggressive chemicals ready when building proposals are to be made. Concentrations, times and which mixtures. By times is meant how long the chemicals will load the coating. Should it withstand full load over a day, a week, a month, 10 years? Feel free to contact us, so we can more easily give suggestions for a structure that will meet your needs.
An epoxy coating is often a good base to build on or just maintain with a new layer. Epoxy has gluing properties and if the conditions are grease- and dust-free, it adheres.
